As part of ANA’s commitment to celebrating the culture and music of Japan and Hawaiʻi, the 2023 ANA ʻAHA MELE will feature Cliburn Award-winning pianist NOBUYUKI TSUJII in concert at the Tom Moffatt Waikiki Shell on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 6:30pm.

Blind since birth, Tsujii is one of classical music’s most enthralling virtuosos, interpreting classic and modern compositions with a genius that is truly emotive and heartfelt. In June 2009, Nobuyuki Tsujii became the first Japanese to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Since then, he has performed with great success at New York’s Carnegie Hall and at the U.K. Proms, He has received great acclaim for his regular recitals at many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Wiener Musikverein, the Berliner Philharmonie, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Tsujii has also been frequently invited to perform alongside leading orchestras in Europe and North America, and been praised by world-class conductors including Valery Gergiev and Vladimir Ashkenazy, with whom he has often performed.

In Honolulu, Tsujii will include works by Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy. He will also be joined for special performances by Hawaiʻi Chamber Music Festival featuring Hawaii’s own Erin Nishi, and Jody Kamisato and Honoka!
